REVIEW: Coca Cola PLUS COFFEE No Sugar

Image and review by Marley Amphlett When I heard of this unorthodox combination it reminded me of the concoctions I used to make as a child with leftovers from Sizzlers. Coca Cola PLUS COFFEE No Sugar has recently been launched as a limited edition product in Australia. Possibly to assist Father Christmas in his upcoming journey across the globe. More likely to coincide with the arrival of summer. Unfortunately if you prefer a sugared version your options are either adding it yourself, or travelling to Japan where supermarkets stock Coca Cola COFFEE PLUS. COFFEE PLUS  has been met with mixed reviews. It has fifty per cent more caffeine and fifty per cent fewer calories than the classic version.   Not going to lie-I assumed Coca Cola PLUS COFFEE No Sugar was going to be horrendous. I am also one of those strange beings who is not particularly partial to coffee and prefer a vanilla chai on ice. They say curiosity killed the cat, and yet here I am to tell the tale. On an outrageous whim I thought to myself “Live a little, spend the $2, and get the infamous Coke + Coffee. The coffee is from Brazil! How bad could it be?!” As a full time Mum it would be as close to an exotic destination as I would get this week. Before I knew it I found myself scanning it through the self-serve til at Coles. Not without incident I might add. Those bloody machines with be the death of me. Coles is currently the only supermarket stocking Coca Cola PLUS COFFEE No Sugar to date. ANYWAY. With a little bit of excitement and a little bit of fear I held what has been described as ‘liquid sin’ in my hands. Upon cracking the ring pull and hearing that familiar fizz I drank with hesitation. I stood corrected. This carbonated beverage was delicious! The smell was somehow exactly that of a freshly poured cappuccino plus a hint of caramel. One sip quickly turned into several. Before I knew it the aluminium can was empty! Call me crazy BUT I LIKED IT! This carbonated coffee coke combination is OK by me. And hey, even if you give it a whirl and it’s not for you it might just help keep you regular. After all caffeine is quite the stimulant! Happy drinking Coca Cola lovers!
